JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) – Saturday morning, volunteers painted the words "End Racism Now" along Main Street in Downtown Johnstown in bright yellow paint.

Students from Greater Johnstown High School, members of Allies for Justice, the Johnstown NAACP, clergy, and local business owners all picked up a brush.

Organizers say they want this message to make everybody feel safe and welcome in Johnstown.

"I hope that it gives them a positive feeling of security within their city...to know that we have a city that's working together for the good of mankind," said Jeffrey Wilson, President of the Johnstown Police Advisory Board.

Members of Allies for Justice say this idea was inspired by the images of "Black Lives Matter" painted in yellow letters along 16th Street in Washington D.C.

Although, they said they decided to go with the words "End Racism Now" instead of "Black Lives Matter" for Johnstown's message.

"If anybody has a problem with this, then it just goes to show how much work we still have to do," said Kirsten Vazquez of Allies for Justice.
