HOUSTON, Texas (WOAI) A Texas school superintendent is behind bars after being accused of trying to solicit sex from a 15-year-old girl in Houston. Investigators said that Michael Stevens, 47, is being charged with online solicitation of a minor.

Investigators said that Michael Stevens, 47, is being charged with online solicitation of a minor.

Stevens is the superintendent of a school district in North Texas near Dallas.

According to officials, Stevens began talking to who he thought was a teenage girl but were trained officers who were conducting a months-long sting operation. The officers were posing as 13, 14, and 15 year olds in the Houston area.

The school administrator is one of the seven men caught during the sting.

We are trying to determine if any other children have been solicited by these individuals," shared Constable Alan Rosen of Harris County Precinct 1. "This should scare parents, this should put things into perspective about how dangerous things can be when you're not paying attention...

The Itasca School District said until more facts are confirmed, no further comment can be shared.

The Board of Trustees met today to take immediate action to suspend Superintendent Michael Stevens from his role as Superintendent of Schools. The Board took this action in response to the arrest on Thursday, June 1st of Mr. Stevens. We are working diligently to resolve this situation in accordance with our legal counsel.The Board has appointed veteran Superintendent Keith Boles to serve as the Interim Superintendent starting tomorrow, June 6th. Mr. Boles previously served in the district in this capacity and is well known and respected by our community.Last and more importantly, the Board is confident that based on all facts known to date, there are no connections between the allegations made against Mr. Stevens and students at Itasca ISD. Our students are safe and will continue to thrive and succeed with the dedicated attention and service brought by our outstanding parents and staff.
