Shirleysburg man sentenced to prison time in Huntingdon Co. arson case, DA confirms

Huntingdon Co., PA (WJAC) Authorities with the Huntingdon County District Attorney's Office confirmed that a Shirleysburg man has been sentenced to prison time for setting fire to a residence last April.

Authorities with the Huntingdon County District Attorney's Office confirmed that a Shirleysburg man has been sentenced to prison time for setting fire to a residence last April.

Officials say Jonathan Copenhaver will serve 3 to 6 years at SCI Huntingdon after he pleaded guilty to one count of felony arson in October.

Troopers arrested Copenhaver in early April after he intentionally set fire to a trailer located along Extract Road.

Police noted that he then attempted to bribe a witness to lie to police and say that he did not commit the act.

Troopers say Copenhaver also allegedly barricaded himself inside his own residence when police came to arrest him, however, online court documents show that those relative charges were dismissed.

Copenhaver was also ordered to pay restitution to the victim of the fire.
