SAXTON - The Saxton Volunteer Fire Company in Bedford County is mourning the loss of a crew member after they responded to a call involving one of their own.

A new release from the department said Jerri Carson died in a car crash on Monday.

The release said Company 35 responded to a call when a single car had rolled over on State Route 26 near Cherrywood around 9:45 p.m.

Carson died in the crash.

“Jerri lit up a room with her smile. She was shy, had a great personality, a huge heart, and was one of the kindest people I’ve met. She joined our firehouse family as a Jr. Member while at Tussey Mountain High School, and upon graduation in 2014 became an active member. For those who knew Jerri, a special place will always remain in our hearts for her. I hope that our members and her friends/family will carry on her legacy of caring and kindness,” said Public Information Officer Branden S. Diehl.

The Saxton Volunteer Fire Company is working with Carson’s family members to make proper funeral arrangements.
