PennDOT and the Maryland Department of Transportation hosted another open house Thursday to discuss the Route 219 project.

The meeting was held at the Salisbury Volunteer Fire Department and allowed the public to not only look at the proposed plans but also provide feedback on the project.

The project is proposing a new 8 mile long four lane highway from the end of the Meyersdale bypass to the newly constructed portion of Route 219 in Maryland.

PennDOT displayed its environmental impact findings, along with the 4 alignments that are being considered.

“We like to be able to make the residents as informed as possible just to help them with their comfort level. We know that this can be a very stressful time. It’s a very, very large project and there’s so much going into it,” said senior project manager Nicki Donahoe.
