CLEARFIELD, Pa. - A real estate company with properties spanning Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Ohio could soon be the new owner of the Clearfield Mall.

Bob Sichelstiel of Pennmark Real Estate Investors said they are currently taking legal steps to purchase the property from Zamias.

Sichelstiel said Zamias put the Clearfield Mall up for bid in late May.

"I use to just come to the mall all the time for whatever I needed," shopper Kerry Maines said. "I've lived here all my life so I've been coming here for awhile."

Shopper Gloria Barrett said she's also been coming to the Clearfield Mall all her life and remembers the different stores that have come in and out.

The most recent closure was J.C. Penney in 2017.

"I came with my mom when she was living and my family and there was a lot of good shopping here," Barrett said. "We had J.C. Penney, Fashion Bug, Hallmark and Ames. My whole family and my mom were hooked on shopping."

Sichelstiel said Pennmark plans to put in about $500,000 worth of improvements from the lighting to the floors.

He said they pan to increase traffic by bringing in more stores.

"I think a lot of people would like it if it was built back up," Barrett said. "It's a shame because it was beautiful."
