SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — Japan said Monday thatNorth Korea has informed it of a plan to launch a satellite by June 3. Japan's coast guard said it has been notified by North Korea about its planned launch of a "satellite rocket" beginning Monday through midnight June 3. The launch plan likely refers to the North's efforts to launch its second military spy satellite into space. South Korea's military said Friday it detected signs that North Korea is engaging in activities believed to be preparations to launch a spy satellite at its main Tongchangri launch facility in the northwest.

What would Julia do? Centre County runner defying the odds

BOALSBURG – A cross-country runner from St. Joseph’s Catholic Academy, in Boalsburg, received a prestigious award. Julia Cusatis was named the most inspiring Pennsylvania cross-country athlete. The award was presented by professional runner Neely Spence Gracey, who presented Cusatis with a bronze sneaker. The high school junior garnered the award for her positive attitude and her determination for continually defying the odds. She has juvenile arthritis. “I’m pretty stubborn, so I try to just act like nothing is wrong and just shove it under the table,” said Cusatis.

Children and Youth Services workers charged in connection with child's death in Adams Co.

ADAMS COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — Three Adams County Children and Youth Services (CYS) workers have been charged after allegedly failing to properly handle the case of a 15-month-old girl, which lead to her death. The three employees including caseworker, Steve Murphy; his supervisor, Clarissa Kiessling; and Sherri Depasqua, a CYS assistant administrator, were each charged with two felony counts of endangering the welfare of children.
