North and South gear up for Lezzer Lumber Classic

CLEARFIELD -- Friday night at 7:00 p.m. will feature some of the best football Central PA has to offer suiting up for the final time as high school athletes. The 35th annual Lezzer Lumber Classic is set for Clearfield High School pitting the North, guided by Bald Eagle head coach Jesse Nagle, against the South, led by Juniata Valley head coach Bill Musser. The series is tied at 17 all-time between the two squads, and Clearfield High School will be the site of WJAC's Your Town live broadcast.

Penn State's Ag Progress Days cancelled due to the coronavirus, organizers say

CENTRE COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — Penn State’s Ag Progress Days expo has been cancelled because of the coronavirus, the university announced Monday. The three-day agricultural expo usually draws at least 50,000 visitors in mid-August. In announcing the cancellation, organizers said it's still too big of a risk with visitors coming in from all over the country. "Although many areas of the state and country are beginning to reopen after the onset of COVID-19, the prospect of inviting up to 50,000 people — who come from all over Pennsylvania and even from out of state — was too much of a risk given how easily this virus spreads,"

Susan Backlinie, the actor who portrayed the woman killed by a massive shark in the opening scene the iconic movie "Jaws," has died. Sean Clark, who is the founder of Convention All Stars, confirmed Backlinie's death on social media.
