STATE COLLEGE -- Redshirt sophomore Sean Clifford will take snaps for the first time as a Penn State's starting quarterback on Saturday. The announcement was released on Friday after Clifford beat out Will Levis for the job. The 6-foot-2, 216-pound Clifford completed five of seven passes for 195 yards and two touchdowns in limited action behind Trace McSorley in 2018. "Obviously as an offense we're going to support him," said tight end and fellow team captain Pat Freiermuth.

One person injured, dog killed in late night fire in East Conemaugh, officials say

Cambria Co., PA (WJAC) — One person was transported to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center Sunday night following a house fire in Cambria County. The fire was reported on the 200 block of Third Street in East Conemaugh Borough shortly after 11 p.m. Ron Reynolds, the deputy fire chief, says the house was fully ingulfed in flames. Four people were reportedly in the home at the time. Officials say the one person transported to the hospital was being treated for burns.

PSU staff member charged with DUI after nearly colliding with police cruiser

CENTRE COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — Authorities in Centre County say a Penn State University staff member is facing DUI-related charges after she nearly crashed into a Spring Township police cruiser in December. According to the affidavit, police say 41-year-old Annahelen Barone was reportedly driving erratically along South Water Street, on the night of Dec. 29th. Police say an on-duty Spring Township police officer witnessed Barone's black Subaru continually crossing into the opposite lane of travel before she nearly collided with his cruiser.

Altoona man sentenced to years in prison in attempted homicide, arson case

BLAIR COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — Blair County officials say an Altoona man has been sentenced to serve decades behind bars after pleading guilty to his role in a 2021 arson and attempted homicide case. Daniel Sipes Jr. was one of two individuals arrested in early 2022 in connection to an arson investigation at a home along 5th Ave. in the city of Altoona. Police say he and Maria Frye reportedly conspired to set the home ablaze in an attempt to kill the unnamed victim inside.
