PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Four former students at the nation's oldest reform school have filed a federal class-action lawsuit alleging that they were abused and denied an education. The Juvenile Law Center says the suit against Glen Mills Schools in suburban Philadelphia was filed Wednesday. An investigation by The Philadelphia Inquirer this year detailed decades of alleged abuse and cover-ups at the 193-year-old campus. The state this weekrevoked all the school's licenses , weeks after ordering all remaining students be removed from the campus about 25 miles (40 kilometers) west of Philadelphia.
Pittsburgh (WJAC) — Former all-star pitcher AJ Burnett announced on social media Tuesday that he will be throwing out the ceremonial first pitch ahead of the Pittsburgh Pirates' 2023 home opener. Burnett spent three of the final four seasons of his career in Pittsburgh, including the 2013 season which saw the Pirates return to the postseason for the first time in over two decades. Another former Bucco, Russell Martin, will help the Pirates celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the 2013 team by catching Burnett's ceremonial first pitch.
Officials with Penn State say it takes time to find the right artist to perform at one of the biggest venues in America. After seeing the success Luke Combs had at Beaver Stadium on Saturday night, they say they are going to try and do this more often. “Beaver Stadium is iconic, and a great place to see football, and now a concert,” said Bryce Jordan Center General Manager Al Karosas.
