Large group of people, some armed, gather near Bedford County Courthouse

BEDFORD, Pa. (WJAC) — A large group of people gathered outside the courthouse in Bedford County Tuesday night. Those who gathered told 6 News they were there in response to anincident that happened Monday night involving activists who were marching from Wisconsin to Washington D.C. Troopers say local residents confronted the activists Monday night which led to both sides exchanging gunfire and one of the activists getting shot. Tuesday evening, some of the people that gathered told 6 News they were there to support the local residents who allegedly exchanged gunfire with the activists Monday night.

Local businesses raise over $12K as part of nationwide fundraiser for St. Jude Children's Research H

Cambria Co., PA (WJAC) — A Cambria County beverage distributor and a Somerset County bar are celebrating a successful partnership for a nationwide Halloween fundraising campaign. Throughout the month of October, the co-owners of New National Hotel & Bar, Robert and Leigh Snyder, held various events and drink specials at their bar in Berlin to raise money for the Coors Light fundraiser for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. On Wednesday, Inco Beverage announced that the promotion raised a local record $12,500 for the campaign.

Ribbon-cutting held for new section of 9/11 Memorial Trail

SOMERSET CO, Pa (WJAC) — Despite some rain on Friday, Somerset County and the September 11th National Memorial Trail Alliance held a ribbon-cutting to celebrate a new section of trail. The 1.5-mile segment of the 9/11 Trail in Garrett is the first of many that will connect the Great Allegheny Passage to the Flight 93 Memorial in Shanksville. Several local and state officials were present for the ceremony, including state Senator Pat Stefano.

Josh'n Around at Oakbrook Golf Course

STOYSTOWN, Pa. -- In this week's "Josh'n Around," 6 News meteorologist Josh Fosbrink traveled to the Oakbrook Golf Course in Somerset County. Josh was put to task and taught how to landscape, rake sand traps and replace holes. Oakbrook Golf Course is located off of Route 219 and keeps itself green due to its series of ponds and lakes that supply the water to the sprinkler system. Fosbrink was given a golf lesson at the driving range, where he learned that although he is left-handed, he is a right-handed golfer.
