Man steals cars, catalytic converters from police confiscation lot, authorities say

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WTVC) — A chain link fence with barbed wire on top, surveillance cameras and an alarm system were apparently not enough to stop a man fromburglarizing more than 100 vehicles in the Chattanooga Police Confiscation Lot, police in Tennessee said. An arrest report said James Allen Turpin is accused of stealing a car, a golf cart and 56 catalytic converters over a period of several days. Authorities arrested Turpin on Sunday.

Penn State 2017 Fiesta Bowl tickets now available for fans

Annual charity hockey game aims to support Blair County family services

ALTOONA, Pa. (WJAC) — Organizers say the Altoona police and fire department have had a long running rivalry on the ice. Each year the departments play one another in a hockey game to raise money for various charities. Proceeds from this year's Guns vs. Hoses event are going to Blair Family Services Inc. The organization runs several shelters within the city and provides services for victims of crimes including rape and domestic violence.

Wednesday marked the beginning of the early signing period and a number of area athletes signed NLI's making their college choices official. Hollidaysburg had a pair of athletes sign today: Brock Irvin will play football at Towson, and Darcie Frazier will run Track at California University of Pennsylvania. Altoona sent two football standouts to the next level: Gaige Hill signed with Toledo, and Mitch Lawhead inked his NLI with Lehigh.
