Local school receives donation of snacks after winning contest

SOMERSET COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — A school in Somerset County is getting a huge food donation. Last week, more than seven thousand granola bars were delivered by Junkless Foods to Windber Middle School. One teacher we spoke with says she came across a Facebook post to fill out a from asking what you would do with seven thousand granola bars. A few days later, the school got an email saying they won the contest.

Students who didn't complete COVID-19 testing may have registration canceled

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. (WJAC) — Penn State University officials say students who didn't complete their pre-arrival COVID-19 tests may have their registration canceled. In a release, university officials say 24,000 students were selected for pre-arrival COVID-19 testing. According to the release, students were notified through their Penn State email address and were given instructions on how to complete the at-home tests. The results of those test were to be submitted to the university by August 24 in order for students to attend classes or participate in other activities on campus.

Blair County man facing charges after trying to set self, others on fire, police say

SNYDER TOWNSHIP – A Blair County man is facing multiple charges after police say he threatened to light himself and his camper on fire, while also attempting to pour gasoline on state troopers. Jason Morrissey, 37, of Tyrone, is facing charges of aggravated assault, criminal attempt/arson, terroristic threats, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, resisting arrest, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct. According to a police report, Morrissey engaged in a verbal altercation with his girlfriend at their residence at 808 Belmont Ave.
