JWF Industries prepares for Gov. Mike Pence's arrival

JOHNSTOWN - Republican vice presidential nominee, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, is scheduled to host an outdoor rally at JWF Industries on Thursday. The metal manufacturing company's safety director and owner's son, Alex Polacek, worked with staff Wednesday to prepare for Pence's arrival. Polacek said the event was a bit last-minute, just finding out on Monday that Pence was coming to Johnstown. He said despite having little time to prepare, the staff cleaned and followed safety directions from the Secret Service.

Community rallying behind annual Hoopsfest

Thousands of people gathered in the streets of Altoona today for the 21st annual Hoopsfest. Hoopsfest founder Jim Kilmartin said the event means much more to the community than just being a basketball tournament. Former NBA player, primarily for the San Antonio Spurs, and Altoona native, Johnny Moore said, "It's very important. This is a Christian oriented event and I think it's very important to give the kids of today a viable option to everything else that's happening in the streets.

FBI warns of foreign terrorist organizations possibly targeting Pride month events

WASHINGTON (TND) — Foreign terrorist organizations (FTOS) or their supporters "may seek to exploit" LGBTQIA+-related events and venues during the upcoming June 2024 Pride Month, the FBI and Department of Homeland Security warned. "FTO efforts to commit or inspire violence against holiday celebrations, including Pride celebrations or LGBTQIA+-related venues, are compounded by the current heightened threat environment in the United States and other western countries," the agencies issued in a public service announcement.

Johnstown native leads investigation revealing alleged betrayer of Anne Frank

CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — Almost 80 years have passed since Anne Frank and her family were found and captured by the Nazis during World War II. A team of investigators recently released who they believe betrayed the Frank family to the Nazis. That team was led by Vince Pankoke, a Johnstown native with over 35 years of law enforcement experience. 6 News interviewed Pankoke over Zoom. Here's how he said it happened.
