NEW ALEXANDRIA -- Northern Cambria native Tom Scott has big weekend plans. He's driving his car over 150 miles per hour, legally.

Scott is competing in the International Hot Rod Association's Sportsman National Championships at the Keystone Raceway Park.

While the 40-year racing veteran is a regular at the New Alexandria drag strip, this event gives him an opportunity to face competition from across the country.

"There are a few more people here than usual, which gives you a little more incentive to try to do some good," Scott told 6 Sports Friday.

"It's a good track, you have a pretty good racing surface. Quite a few people come to race, it's what we like to do."

Scott is racing in the Quick Rod division.

Racers from across the country and Canada will compete in eight different divisions, including Junior Dragsters.

IHRA President Mike Dunn, a Pennsylvania resident and 22-time national-event winner, will call the action airing on ESPN3.

The competition takes place Saturday and Sunday.
