JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Johnstown's Central Park.
With snow falling down, crews arrived around 8 a.m. Tuesday to begin building the frame of the Christmas tree.
The final product is 36 feet tall and will be topped with a 4-foot star. The tree draws thousands of people throughout the holiday season. Organizers say it's a way to boost holiday spirit in the city and maybe even start new traditions.
“We have seen such an influx of people over the last five years,” says Melissa Radovanic, president of the Discover Downtown Partnership. “Literally thousands of people will be here on Light-Up Night, and throughout the season the tree is generally up for 53 days."
The tree will be lit on Nov. 22 during the annual Christmas parade. This year, there will be 10 holiday songs synced to the lights.
