Second-generation race car driver Conor Daly has competed in Formula One and the IndyCar Series for over a decade now. He's racing, some say, to save his Indy career as he prepares to race towards the finish line in the Indy 500 race.

Daly joined The National Desk’s Angela Brown to discuss more on the Indy 500 race and what it means to him.

“This is the greatest race in the world for a reason, but this is also my hometown. I grew up not too far from here, so I went to school not too far from here,” he said. “I left school early to come to the racetrack when I was a kid to see everything that was going on here so it means a ton to me.”

Daly’s family has strong ties to the Indy 500 race as his mom works on the track and his stepdad is the president.

“There's a lot that means so much to me and we want to bring home the trophy, we want to get the wreath, we want to drink the milk for everyone that's made it happen for us to be here as a group,” Daly said.
