CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Deputies arrested a Chattanooga man for repeatedly calling and texting 911. An arrest report says at the time, "deputies did not observe any injuries or any emergency going on with him."
But no more than two days after his arrest, 23-year-old Christopher Ayala landed in intensive care.
His family says doctors told them Ayala is now considered brain dead.
Edwin Ayala says he's living in a state of confusion over what happened to his 23 year-old-son.
Blair Co., PA (WJAC) — Authorities with the Duncansville Fire Department say a family of four has been displaced following a blaze at a mobile home in Juniata Township late Tuesday morning.
911 officials say crews were called to the home, located along the 100 block of High Drive, just before 11 a.m.
According to Duncansville Fire Chief Mike Gonsman, the mobile home was destroyed and the family lost a dog in the fire.
PITTSBURGH — Jake Guentzel’s power-play goal with 1:03 remaining helped the Pittsburgh Penguins beat the Nashville Predators 6-4 on Saturday night.
Bryan Rust’s initial point shot missed the net. Evgeni Malkin gathered the puck behind the net and gave it to Guentzel, who tucked it inside the left post for the winning goal.

Westmoreland County, PA — Pennsylvania Crime Stoppers is offering a $10,000 reward for any information that helps solve the 2007 cold case murder of 22-year-old Samantha Lang in Westmoreland County.
Police say Lang, who was involved in the use and sale of heroin, was last seen sometime between March 26th and 27th, 2007, near her father's residence in Derry Township.
Authorities say Lang was dropped off at the residence by a friend and was later found dead.
SEATTLE (KOMO) — The unofficial start of summer is almost here. But this year, the upcoming Memorial Day holiday weekend could be the third-busiest in about 23 years, according to AAA. "The desire to travel is high," AAA spokesperson Aixa Diaz said. "It's back to what it was pre-pandemic."

PENFIELD - A popular rock and roll group from the late 1960s is making their way back into the limelight. Three original members from Tommy James and the Shondells have gotten back together as The Crystal Blue Band.
One member, Ron Rosman, was born and raised in Penfield, Clearfield County.
Rosman lived there until he was 14 years old. It was during his college years at St. Vincent College in Latrobe when he was discovered by Tommy James.

University Park, PA (WJAC) — A federal sexual harassment lawsuit filed by a former Penn State fencer against the university has been dismissed.
The judge, however, has left the door open for the complainant, Zara Moss, to refile the suit.
Moss claims that suspended fencing coach Wes Glon was abusive to her and other female fencers on the Penn State squad and that the university was in violation of Title IX regulations.
UPDATE:EBENSBURG, Pa. (WJAC) — Cambria County Coroner Jeff Lees says a man found dead at an Ebensburg hotel Wednesday night shot himself after police approached him to question him about an active investigation.
Lees says the incident happened just after 11 p.m. Wednesday when police approached the Quality Inn along Route 22 to question 39-year-old Kenneth Kim.
According to Lees, Kim ran into his first-floor hotel room when he saw police.
WASHINGTON (TND) — The U.S. Space Weather Prediction Center on Thursday issued a severe geomagnetic storm watch for a solar event which could impact a majority of Americans Friday into Saturday.
Officials explained in a release they expect an eruption of solar material, known as a coronal mass ejection (CME), to result in a geomagnetic storm. Along with the release was the rating of G4 for “severe,” which the agency has not issued since 2005.

(TND) — Federal food assistance falls far short of basic meal costs for the roughly 40 million Americans receiving the benefit, according to a new report from the Urban Institute.
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, benefits didn’t cover the cost of a modestly priced meal in at least 98% of counties last year, according to the report published this week.
The average modestly priced meal cost $3.37 at the end of last year, 19% more than the average maximum SNAP benefit of $2.
The Johnstown Area Heritage Association hosted their 2nd annual Sundaes with Santa event on Sunday.

WINDBER, Pa. (WJAC) — Residents of Windber, Somerset County, may have seen firetrucks outside of the Arcadia Theater on Graham Ave. Wednesday evening.

PITTSBURGH (WJAC) — Pittsburgh Pirates top pitching prospect Paul Skenes will reportedly begin the 2024 season with the organization's Triple-A affiliate, the Indianapolis Indians, team GM Ben Cherington told reporters Monday.

Cassidy Lewis said she was inside her Eagle Mountain home Monday morning when right at 9:30 a.m. she heard a loud bang from outside and the entire house shook.
When she ran outside, her animals were acting chaotic, and she saw a basketball-sized hole torn through the roof of her goat shed.
HARRISBURG, Pa. (WJAC) — The state's labor and industry secretary says more than $28 billion have been paid in benefits since March 15.
Jerry Oleksiak says 92 percent of people who were eligible and filed for benefits between March 15 and June 20 received their payments as of Monday.

EVERETT -- Nearly one hundred firefighters and emergency responders battled a massive 3-alarm fire in Everett Wednesday afternoon.
Crews went to Highland Tire on Raystown Road just before 4 p.m.
The massive fire sent plumes of smoke billowing into the air, which could be seen 20 miles away and even in other counties.
"This type of fire involving chemicals and rubber and tires is a very difficult one to extinguish," says Dave Cubbison with Bedford County EMA.

WILMORE BOROUGH – The coroner was called to the scene of a fatal single-vehicle crash along Route 53 Saturday morning.
Cambria County Coroner Jeff Lees said the pickup truck, a black Ford F-150, was traveling south on Route 53 when the truck crossed the center line and struck a tree head-on.
The accident occurred around 8:30 a.m.
Lees said Jerry Kinback, 59, of Wilmore, was the driver of the truck and was pronounced dead at the scene.
LONDON (AP) — Deep-sea researchers have completed the first full-size digital scan of the Titanic, showing the entire wreck in unprecedented detail and clarity, the companies behind a new documentary on the wreck said Thursday.
Using two remote-operated submersibles, a team of researchers spent six weeks last summer in the North Atlantic mapping the whole shipwreck and the surrounding 3-mile debris field, where personal belongings of the ocean liner's passengers such as shoes and watches were scattered.
JOHNSTOWN, Pa (WJAC) — The Heritage Discovery Center in Johnstown has reopened its doors after being closed during the pandemic.
Some of the museums are open, so visitors have a chance to get out of the house and learn some history.

PITTSBURGH (WJAC) — The Pittsburgh Pirates announced Friday that catch Henry Davis has been optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis to make room for veteran Yasmani Grandal being added to the active roster.
Grandal was playing in Triple-A as part of a rehab assignment.
Davis appeared in 23 games so far this season for the Pirates, tallying just 11 hits in 68 at-bats.
Grandal, a 13-year MLB veteran, signed a one-year deal with Pittsburgh in February.

EBENSBURG -- Thousands of people spent their Labor Day at the 71st annual American Legion County Fair in Ebensburg, formerly the "Cambria County Fair."
Organizers said a group of 12 American Legion posts have always run the fair.
This summer they received permission from their national office to use the American Legion name.

LANCASTER, Pa. (AP) — Authorities have announced an arrest in the stabbing death of a 19-year-old woman in Pennsylvania almost a half-century ago, crediting advances in DNA technology and genetic genealogical research.
Lancaster County prosecutors and Manor Township police said Monday that a criminal homicide charge had been filed against 68-year-old David Sinopoli in the December 1975 murder of Lindy Sue Beichler.
“Lindy Sue Beichler was 19 when her life was brutally taken away from her 46 years ago in the sanctity of her own home,” District Attorney Heather Adams said.

IRVINE, Calif. (TND) — The man accused in the slaying of a UPS driver in California was charged with "special circumstance murder."
Rhean Jalipa Fontanoza, 46, was charged in the shooting death of Expedito Cuesta De Leon, Fontanoza's "childhood friend" and "coworker."
The 50-year-old man who worked for UPS was killed inside his delivery truck on Thursday, May 16, according to Irvine police. Police found De Leon dead, still with the seatbelt buckled, slumped over in the driver’s seat.

The unusual case hinges on DNA from a coffee cup as police from various agencies are continuing the investigation.

MCKEES ROCKS, Pa. (WJAC) — Allegheny County police say a man has been charged with abuse of a corpse after a missing woman's body was found in a refrigerator inside a McKees Rocks apartment building.
Police identified the body as 38-year-old Kristy Jefferson. She was reported missing April 29. Jefferson's body was found in an apartment building along Helen Street around 9:45 a.m. Sunday.
Residents in the building told police they smelled a foul odor coming from a refrigerator that was sitting in the hallway.
Blair Co., PA (WJAC) — A fire at the Blair Senior Services’ storage facility damaged multiple vehicles over the weekend, but it has not stopped the company’s daily transportation services.
Investigators say the fire broke out early Sunday morning in the back of the transportation center where twelve vehicles were parked.
The president of Blair Senior Services, Steve Williamson, says the fire damaged ten vans and totaled six of them.
UPDATE | BEDFORD COUNTY, Pa. — State police in Bedford County are providing new details about the investigation into multiple overdoses at a local Sheetz store over the weekend.
Troopers say authorities were dispatched to the store, located along Business Route 220, around 11:30 a.m. Sunday.
According to the affidavit, troopers made contact with two individuals, 30-year-old Amanda Allison II and 41-year-old Nathaniel Michael, who were actively showing symptoms of a suspected overdose.

A financial report states the Altoona-Blair County Airport had an operating loss of over $400,000 in 2023, but the airport manager said that number is out of context, and they had money in hand by the end of the year.
The Altoona-Blair County airport manager Tracy Plessinger said even though it is a smaller airport they manage about $42 million in assets, and those assets losing value is what makes it appear as if the airport lost money.
ALTOONA - Firefighters responded to a fire at an Altoona bar and nightclub around 4:15 p.m. Tuesday. They said one person was inside and neighbors helped get the person out. Officials said that person was taken to the hospital.
The roof collapsed shortly before 6 p.m. Tuesday night. More than 100 firefighters were on the scene working in rotations to battle the heavy smoke and flames. Two firefighters had to be taken the the hospital for heat-related injuries.

DETROIT, Mich. (TND) — Vice President Kamala Harris on Monday made a bizarre remark when asked about the potential of a ceasefire deal in the Middle East.

CLEARFIELD, Pa. - A real estate company with properties spanning Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Ohio could soon be the new owner of the Clearfield Mall.
Bob Sichelstiel of Pennmark Real Estate Investors said they are currently taking legal steps to purchase the property from Zamias.

WASHINGTON (WJLA) — A 17-year-old student is injured after an exchange of gunfire between two groups outside Dunbar High School in northwest D.C., according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
MPD officers responded to the sounds of gunshots that occurred outside the school on N Street, NW just before 10 a.m. Officers found the girl had been grazed by a bullet that entered the school through the glass windows of a classroom, according to their preliminary investigation.

PHILIPSBURG, Pa. (WJAC) — There’s outrage Friday about vandalism at a beloved holiday display in the area, but repair work is already underway.
Simply known as “the Big Santa,” the nearly 40-foot-tall, plywood Santa along with toy soldiers and a bag of toys, has been a fixture in the Philipsburg area since the 1960's.

University Park, PA (WJAC) — A former Penn State administrator is planning to take legal action against the university.
Emme Devonish was named as the university’s ethics officer in September of 2020.
She recently left Penn State and has now filed notice of a pending discrimination civil suit in Centre County court.
Specifically, Devonish is claiming violations of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act.

NORWALK, Conn. (AP) — A bridge damaged in a fiery crash that kept Interstate 95 in Connecticut closed Thursday and Friday has been demolished.
A live camera operated by the Connecticut Department of Transportation on Saturday showed excavators and bucket loaders scooping up rubble from the destroyed Fairfield Avenue overpass above I-95 in Norwalk and dumping it into large containers and dump trucks to be hauled away.

CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — It's been years in the making, but the fate of a proposed asphalt plant in Richland Township was decided Tuesday in the Cambria County Court of Common Pleas.
More than two dozen residents who live near the proposed site appealed the Richland zoning board's decision to allow Quaker Sales Corporation to build an asphalt plant off of mine 37 road.

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. (WJAC) — Penn State University officials say students who didn't complete their pre-arrival COVID-19 tests may have their registration canceled.
In a release, university officials say 24,000 students were selected for pre-arrival COVID-19 testing. According to the release, students were notified through their Penn State email address and were given instructions on how to complete the at-home tests. The results of those test were to be submitted to the university by August 24 in order for students to attend classes or participate in other activities on campus.

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — Johnstown police are trying to identify a man they said robbed a Family Dollar in Dale Borough.
Video shows a man entering the store and demanding money from the cash register.
The video was given to 6 News by a store employee, who said the suspect walked away with over $200 in cash.
Johnstown police said the suspect was said to have a weapon, but no weapon was shown.
According to the agenda for the Portage Borough council meeting from Monday, work is being done to repeal three ordinances named in a federal lawsuit filed by Bodies in Motion owner Gary Vaughn.

HOLLIDAYSBURG, Pa. (WJAC) — Authorities say a suicide at an Ebensburg hotel Wednesday night was connected to an ongoing homicide investigation in Hollidaysburg.
According to the Blair County District Attorney’s Office, Hollidaysburg police and Pennsylvania State Police identified 39 -year-old Kenneth Kim as a suspect in the murder of 27-year-old Tyler Slippy.
Investigators say Slippy was found dead in an alley way on Allegheny Street in late Nov.
Investigators say a number of search warrants were executed in Blair and Cambria counties regarding the investigation.
Johnstown, PA (WJAC) — The trial began Monday for a Johnstown man accused of stabbing a woman to death over the price of a refrigerator during a Facebook Marketplace sale gone wrong.
Joshua Gorgone appeared in front of a jury Monday in Cambria County court.
He is charged with criminal homicide in the death of 54-year-old Denise Williams in April of last year.
Investigators say Williams’ body was found in Gorgone's Geistown apartment, on Old Scalp Avenue, with dozens of stab wounds.

PUNXSUTAWNEY - State police in Punxsutawney said they are looking for man who is wanted on several charges, including drug delivery resulting in death.
According to state police, they are looking for Ryan Saline, 32, of Treasure Lake Road in DuBois.
Saline is described as standing 6 feet tall and weighing 210 pounds. He has blue eyes and brown hair.
According to court documents, on August 31, 2017 police were called to a home on Route 322 just outside of Punxsutawney for a deceased 29-year-old man later identified as Michael Sarvey.
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WTVC) — A chain link fence with barbed wire on top, surveillance cameras and an alarm system were apparently not enough to stop a man fromburglarizing more than 100 vehicles in the Chattanooga Police Confiscation Lot, police in Tennessee said.
An arrest report said James Allen Turpin is accused of stealing a car, a golf cart and 56 catalytic converters over a period of several days.
Authorities arrested Turpin on Sunday.

ALTOONA, Pa. (WJAC) — Organizers say the Altoona police and fire department have had a long running rivalry on the ice.
Each year the departments play one another in a hockey game to raise money for various charities. Proceeds from this year's Guns vs. Hoses event are going to Blair Family Services Inc. Clearfield Co., PA (WJAC) — Authorities in Clearfield County say an off-duty police officer is behind bars after he shot another man during an altercation with the owner of a DuBois business over the weekend.

Walmart is now accepting Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits for online grocery orders at stores in 39 states across the country, including Pennsylvania.
Walmart has pushed to make sure customers who pay for groceries with SNAP benefits have access to Walmart's pickup and delivery service.
The pandemic spurred the expansion.
In states that don't offer online SNAP transactions, Walmart offers SNAP at pickup.
The program allows customers to place their grocery order online and use their SNAP benefit card to pay at the time of pickup.
ALTOONA, Pa. (WJAC) — After winning a state championship, one local youth hockey team is now looking to become national champions next month.
In their first year of being able to compete for a state championship, the Mid-State Mustangs took home gold in Pennsylvania, and now they will go on to compete for a national championship in April.
In early March, the Mid-State Mustangs 14U hockey team won the Mid-Am Pennsylvania State Championship in Pittsburgh.

WASHINGTON (TND) — As Memorial Day and the busy summer travel season approach, drivers are preparing for higher gas prices.
According to AAA, the national average gas price is about $3.61 per gallon. The Energy Information Administration (EIA) expects this average to sit around $3.70 from April through September, similar to the same period last year. This anticipated increase is due to higher demand and the Environmental Protection Agency's requirement for refineries to switch to their summer blend of fuel, which is more expensive to produce.

CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — Authorities in Cambria County say one person was taken to the hospital Wednesday afternoon following a train versus passenger vehicle collision.
911 officials say the incident occurred just after 2 p.m. in the area of Krings Street and Eisenhower Blvd. in Richland.
According to a witness, the SUV was reportedly stopped on the tracks when it was struck by a CSX freight train.
Flaggers were also reportedly nearby, directing traffic, as that intersection has seen a recent increase in traffic due to a local detour.
SAN ANTONIO (WOAI) — One person is dead following a shooting at the North Star Mall in San Antonio on Sunday afternoon.
Police say the shooting was an isolated incident inside a barbershop at the mall around 3 p.m.
According to the police, two suspects went inside the barbershop and shot the victim while he was getting a haircut.
Police say the victim has been pronounced dead.
Officials are actively searching for the suspects who fled the scene.

Vampyre Cosmetics cut ties with Cooper earlier this month after the singer called "cases of transgender" a "fad” in aninterview with music blog Stereogum.
“I’m understanding that there are cases of transgender, but I’m afraid that it’s also a fad, and I’m afraid there’s a lot of people claiming to be this just because they want to be that,” Cooper said in the interview.

HOUSTON, Texas (WOAI) — A Texas school superintendent is behind bars after being accused of trying to solicit sex from a 15-year-old girl in Houston.
Investigators said that Michael Stevens, 47, is being charged with online solicitation of a minor.
Stevens is the superintendent of a school district in North Texas near Dallas.
According to officials, Stevens began talking to who he thought was a teenage girl but were trained officers who were conducting a months-long sting operation.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WSYX) — Prosecutors in Louisville, Kentucky, have dropped all charges against top golfer Scottie Scheffler following his arrest during the PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club this month.
Jefferson County Attorney Mike O'Connell spoke in court Wednesday, asking the judge to dismiss the charges.
Based upon the totality of the evidence, my office cannot move forward in the prosecution of the charges filed against Mr. Scheffler," O'Connell said during the hearing that lasted less than 10 minutes.

Officials say Jonathan Copenhaver will serve 3 to 6 years at SCI Huntingdon after he pleaded guilty to one count of felony arson in October.
Troopers arrested Copenhaver in early April after he intentionally set fire to a trailer located along Extract Road.

The Varsity Encore Cheerleading Championship -- called the "Encore Johnstown Showdown" -- is being held at the Cambria County War Memorial.
Organizers say just under 1,000 athletes and about 2,500 fans are expected to fill up the 1st Summit Arena over the weekend.
This event marks the first cheerleading competition to be held at the arena since 2010.

STOYSTOWN, Pa. -- In this week's "Josh'n Around," 6 News meteorologist Josh Fosbrink traveled to the Oakbrook Golf Course in Somerset County.
Josh was put to task and taught how to landscape, rake sand traps and replace holes.
Oakbrook Golf Course is located off of Route 219 and keeps itself green due to its series of ponds and lakes that supply the water to the sprinkler system.

LACKAWANNA COUNTY, Pa. — A vehicle accident in Lackawanna County left one teen dead and another injured the morning of June 10, state police say.
According to a press release, Ayden Beckage, 18, was traveling north on State Route 307 with a 17-year-old male passenger when he lost control of his vehicle.

ANNE ARUNDEL COUUNTY, Md. — An Anne Arundel County elementary school teacher has been arrested on charges of sexually abusing eight students.
Matthew Schlegel, 44, was taken into custody Thursday morning at his home in Severna Park. He faces more than 30 charges, ranging from second-degree assault to sex abuse of a minor. Schlegel is a third-grade math teacher at Severna Park Elementary school.
According to charging documents, all of the alleged victims are current or former students of Schlegel, and the alleged abuse occurred in the classroom.
CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — On Monday, CamTran introduced four new buses to their fleet that serves Cambria County.
Community leaders and local law makers attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony in Johnstown Monday morning where the buses were unveiled.

Pittsburgh (WJAC) — Pittsburgh Penguins veteran defenseman Kris Letang returned to practice Thursday, just ten days after suffering a stroke.
The team announced last week that Letang would be "out indefinitely" after suffering his second stroke on Monday, Nov. 28th.
"Kris reported symptoms to the training staff and was immediately taken to the hospital for testing," said GM Ron Hextall.
Letang previously missed playing time in 2014 after suffering a stroke.

BLAIR COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — Blair County officials say an Altoona man has been sentenced to serve decades behind bars after pleading guilty to his role in a 2021 arson and attempted homicide case.
Daniel Sipes Jr. was one of two individuals arrested in early 2022 in connection to an arson investigation at a home along 5th Ave. in the city of Altoona.
Police say he and Maria Frye reportedly conspired to set the home ablaze in an attempt to kill the unnamed victim inside.

WASHINGTON (TND) — The three U.S. soldiers killed by a weekend drone strike on their base in Jordan were identified.
The service-members killed in "Operation Inherent Resolve" were 46-year-old Sgt. William Jerome Rivers; 24-year-old Spc. Kennedy Ladon Sanders; and 23-year-old Spc. Breonna Alexsondria Moffett.

According to officials, I-99 was shut down for several hours as crews worked to clean up the crash.

Authorities say a person(s) is calling people pretending to be a sheriff’s deputy.
They say the caller is telling people they have active warrants for their arrest or that they missed jury duty and that they must pay a certain amount of money to the caller in order to stay out of jail.

PHILADELPHIA (WCAU) — More than a dozen people were injured, including two critically, after two Philadelphia city buses were involved in a crash on Friday.
Police say a SEPTA bus rear-ended another bus just after noon on Friday, sending around 14 people to the hospital.
Passengers were on both buses at the time of the accident.
Two people are currently listed in critical condition.
SEPTA confirmed that both bus drivers were also injured in the crash.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (CITC) — A North Carolina high school student is facing three misdemeanor charges after a video of him repeatedly slapping a teacher went viral online.
The video shared to social media this week shows the student, who attends Parkland High School in Winston-Salem, engaged in a heated conversation with a teacher in a classroom. The student can be seen striking the teacher once before stepping back to gasps from classmates.

JEFFERSON, Pa. (WJAC) — The manager of a Denny’s in Brookville was engaged in selling methamphetamine and fentanyl, according to agents with the Attorney General’s Office and Punxsutawney Police Department.
Authorities say that Melissa Sue Lingenfelter, 42, sold the drugs to an undercover officer and confidential informant numerous times including at the restaurant where she worked.
Lingenfelter would perform the drug transactions in her vehicle in the parking lot and even briefly sat with the undercover officer and confidential informant inside the Denny’s, authorities claim.
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (TND) — Harvard University’s governing body on Wednesday denied a faculty push to award degrees to 13 seniors undergoing disciplinary action for their involvement in a pro-Palestine demonstration on campus.

CENTRE COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — Penn State’s Ag Progress Days expo has been cancelled because of the coronavirus, the university announced Monday.
The three-day agricultural expo usually draws at least 50,000 visitors in mid-August.

BRUNSWICK, Maine (TND) — Maine has begun paying rent for homeless immigrants living in apartments located in the town of Brunswick.
The state budgeted nearly $3.5 million to provide 60 migrant families in Brunswick with two years of rent. Maine expects the immigrants to “gain the means” to pay housing costs through state “support” and “guidance.”
The state is also supplying $100,000 to dozens of Brunswick migrants for a year’s worth of asylum application and work authorization assistance.
BREEZEWOOD, Pa. (WJAC) — Officials have released more details about the massive fire that broke out at an Econo Lodge in Breezewood this weekend.
The fire began Friday night.
Officials said it was an electrical fire and 13 people were displaced from the hotel that night.

CENTRE COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — Nearly two weeks after the recent primary election, close to 100 mail-in ballots in Centre County are being challenged as to whether they are valid ballots that should be counted.
Election officials say 98 mail-in ballots were initially counted as valid by Centre County's election board, but they remain under review.
The issue is how the returned ballots were dated, or not dated.
On election day, the county's primary count center noted possible problems with how the ballots’ outer envelopes were dated.

98-year-old Richard Remp was unable to get his diploma back in the 1940s because he dropped out at age 17 to serve in World War II, then Korea, and then Vietnam. But he savored the remarkable moment Friday.
Remp, who goes by "Gunny" since he was a decorated gunnery sergeant in Vietnam, has been in hospice care at home since doctors discovered stage four cancer throughout his body after he fell a few weeks ago.

They did not announce an arrest since Henry “J.R.” Del-Rio has been in trouble since the shooting outside a nightclub in Massachusetts on Aug. 13, 2015.
Authorities said Del-Rio “randomly fired a gun over and over in a crowded parking lot” and “Ashlee Berryman, a completely innocent victim, was caught in a hail of gunfire and lost her life.
HUNTINGDON CO., Pa. (WJAC) — Seven Points Campground at Raystown Lake in Huntingdon County is open for the season.
The lake's camping season runs from the first weekend of April until the last full weekend of October.
According to park rangers, the camp offers 260 sites. Visitors are reminded all public safety protocols remain in place and must be followed, including wearing a mask when entering any lake property.

District attorney Ryan Sayers says Derek Bullard entered a plea to third degree murder in the death of 79-year-old Roberto Quevada.

CENTRE COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — State police say one person was killed in a morning crash on Route 322 on Port Matilda Mountain Tuesday.

Authorities with the Department of Justice say a State College man was found guilty Wednesday on charges related to the January 6th Capitol riot in Washington D.C.

Pittsburgh (WJAC) — According to Pittsburgh Steelers inside reporter Gerry Dulac, quarterback Kenny Pickett reportedly underwent "tightrope" surgery on his ankle Monday morning.
Pickett left Sunday's game in the second quarter after injuring his ankle while scrambling towards the goal line on a third down.
Following the surgery, Pickett is expected to be out at least two to four weeks, according to reports.
However, Dulac reports that the Steelers are hopeful that Pickett can return by month's end.
Portage, Pa. (WJAC) — Weakland Farms in Portage is hosting a Fall Craft and Vendor show Saturday and Sunday to kick off the fall season.

In early November of 2022, many residents in Jackson Township heard what sounded like a large jet engine nearby.
Officials say that sound was determined to be the venting of natural gas at the Rager Mountain storage site owned and operated by Equitrans Midstream.

This week's shooting of two dogs who were found abandoned in Clearfield County is shining a light on the lack of humane officers who focus on animal abuse investigations in some nearby counties.
Dennyboy is one of two dogs suspected of being shot and found by a roadway in Irvona, Clearfield County, last weekend.

EBENSBURG, Pa. (WJAC) — Authorities responded to a fatal crash along Plank Road in East Carroll Township, according to the Cambria County Coroner's Office. According to state police, one person was killed.
Authorities say the crash happened along Plank Road near Main Street Monday morning. According to an initial investigation, state police believe the car hit an embankment while trying to exit Plank Road. The car went airborne and hit a billboard pole, according to state police.
AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — Two people were killed and five others injured in a shooting during a private party at a Texas events center.
Just before 1 a.m., Amarillo police were called to a shopping center near SW 45th Avenue and Georgia Street.
According to police, a fight broke out amongst some of the attendees. Sometime during the fight, someone started shooting. Seven people were shot at Quinn’s Events located at 4515 S Georgia Street.
CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — Authorities in Cambria County say an investigation is underway after a human skull was reportedly found Thursday night near the Little Conemaugh River in Conemaugh Township.
Officials with the coroner's office say the skull was reportedly found by a fisherman around 8 p.m.
Investigators say they are focusing on identifying the remains at this time.
Cambria County coroner Jeff Lees says his office is working with a forensic pathologist, a dentist and an anthropologist to identify the skull.

ALTOONA, Pa — A 20-year murder case is resurfacing after Kenneth Leighty has served almost seven years behind bars for the murder of Sherry Leighty.
In 2013, 14 years after Sherry Leighty disappeared, her father-in-law confessed to killing her.
Kenneth Leighty was sentenced seven to 14 years after being charged with homicide.
Sherry Leighty was 23 years old at the time she disappeared. She would be celebrating her 43 birthday this month.

Pittsburgh (WJAC) — On Wednesday, Major League Baseball announced that Pittsburgh Pirates manager Derek Shelton and pitcher Angel Perdomo were suspended after they were ejected during Tuesday night's game against the San Diego Padres.
Perdomo was suspended three games after the league determined that he "intentionally threw" at Padres' third baseman Manny Machado in the 7th inning of the Pirates 5-1 loss to San Diego.
Machado was struck in the back by a 98 mph fastball after Perdomo gave up a solo homerun to outfielder Juan Soto.

Julia Cusatis was named the most inspiring Pennsylvania cross-country athlete.

ADAMS COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — Three Adams County Children and Youth Services (CYS) workers have been charged after allegedly failing to properly handle the case of a 15-month-old girl, which lead to her death.

HAZLETON, Pa. (AP) — Authorities say a man shot in a movie theater in eastern Pennsylvania over the weekend has died of his injuries and a suspect is being sought.
State police in Luzerne County said the victim was struck by gunfire in the arcade/lobby of the Regal Cinema next to the Laurel Mall in Hazle Township at about 8:15 p.m. Saturday. He was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital Hazleton. Police said the shooter fled from the cinema and left the area.

WASHINGTON (TND) — "Presumed human remains" were found after the Titan submersible imploded during its underwater descent to explore the site of the Titanic shipwreck, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.
Five people were aboard the vessel, including a father and son, when it met its fate on June 18. Debris and evidence were recovered from the seafloor on Wednesday, which was 10 days after the Titan lost contact with a Canadian research boat during a dive approximately 900 miles east of Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
In recent years, 4-day school weeks have been becoming more and more popular among schools in the United states. According to research published in the peer-reviewed journal, Educational Evaluation and Policy Analyis, in the last decade alone, shortened school weeks have been adopted in more than 1,600 schools in 650 school districts nationwide. Bishop Mccort Catholic Highschool is currently conducting discussions between parents and the school about what a shortened school week would mean for them.
CINCINNATI (WKRC) — A local family honored their mother’s battle with cancer by giving out free care packages.
They collected comfort items and delivered them to others undergoing chemotherapy.
Mother’s Day now has a different meaning for the Sunday family.
Their mom Teri died of metastatic breast cancer in 2021.
The family said she always had her chemo bag to make things easier.

CLEARFIELD COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — Authorities in Clearfield County say a DuBois Area High School senior is behind bars after he allegedly admitted to stealing over $2,000 from a school safe.
According to the affidavit, the DuBois school police officer was contacted in mid-March after school authorities reported that the funds were missing from a safe inside the school administration office.
Officials say over $900 was reportedly taken from an envelope used by the school's Art Club and another $1,100 was taken from an envelope used for a local scholarship fund.
KETTERING, Ohio (WKEF) — A man was accused of gross abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence after a pair of severed legs were found in a home in Ohio.
Edgar Keiter Jr., 52, was arraigned at Kettering Municipal Court Monday. The Trotwood Police Department on April 22 reported finding a bag containing two human legs at an apartment in Kettering. Police said the legs belonged to Edgar Keiter Sr.
NEW YORK (AP) — Albert S. Ruddy, a colorful, Canadian-born producer and writer who won Oscars for "The Godfather" and "Million Dollar Baby," developed the raucous prison-sports comedy "The Longest Yard" and helped create the hit sitcom "Hogan's Heroes," has died at age 94.

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Hospitality workers have walked off the job Friday and launched a 48-hour strike against Virgin Hotels Las Vegas after going nearly a year without a new contract.
Virgin Hotels workers with the Culinary and Bartenders unions made good on their announcement of a work stoppage from earlier this week, picketing the casino-resort early Friday morning.
The more than 700 striking workers come from housekeeping, food and beverage, and unionized restaurants on the property.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Pitching prospect Quinn Priester is to make his major league debut Monday night for the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Pirates manager Derek Shelton said Saturday that the Pirates plan to call up Priester from Triple-A Indianapolis to face Cleveland. Priester was the Pirates’ first-round pick in the 2019 amateur draft.
The 22-year-old right-hander is 7-3 with a 4.31 ERA in 18 starts for Indianapolis this season.

Blair Co., PA (WJAC) — In October, the board of the Mountain Lion Backpack Program in Altoona issued a plea to the community for donations to help keep the effort going.

Centre Co., PA (WJAC) — Penn State University police say a New Jersey man is facing charges after being accused of raping a fellow student inside her dorm room earlier this year.
Authorities say 20-year-old Jacob Tillman allegedly admitted to assaulting the victim while also claiming that he had no memory of the incident.
According to the affidavit, police say the victim reported that the alleged assault had occurred in April after she and a group of friends had met with Tillman at the Lion's Den in downtown State College.
The number of boaters, specifically paddlers, hitting the water is on the rise over the last two years.
The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission is reminding everyone that it's mandatory in cold weather to wear a life jacket.
The policy is in effect now through April 30.
You'll need a Coast Guard approved life jacket while on boats less than 16 feet long, or on any kayak, canoe, or paddle boat.
University Park, PA (WJAC) — Penn State announced Tuesday that it has suspended the Delta Theta chapter of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity following an investigation into hazing allegations.
University officials say the fraternity was placed on interim suspension in August and following the conclusion of the investigation, the fraternity has been suspended through the fall of 2027.

Johnstown, PA (WJAC) — A trial date has formally been scheduled for Johnstown man Brian Giles, who was charged last year in the death of his wife Nancy, following a 3-and-a-half year investigation.
According to online court records, jury selection for Giles' trial is scheduled for October 12 and 13th, with the trial scheduled to begin on October 16th.
Police charged Giles with criminal homicide last May, nearly 3-and-a-half years after his wife Nancy was reported missing.
JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — A charity golf outing, and mini-golf bar crawl, is coming to Johnstown to raise money for military members and their families.
The "Special Operations Cup" is a modified-scramble style golf tournament, with proceeds going toward the Special Forces Foundation, a non profit that supports green berets and their families, as well as Gold Star families, which are families that lost a loved one while serving in the military.

The Peoples Natural Gas Division filed a request with the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) to do just that.
Studies show last year, the production of natural gas in Pennsylvania fell at the same time prices continued to rise.
If this request is approved, officials say we could see prices fall in October of this year, saving customers hundreds of dollars.
JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — An employee at the Applebee’s in Richland Township has tested positive for the coronavirus, restaurant officials confirmed to 6 News.
The employee last worked June 29 and was not showing any symptoms, Applebee’s Market President Scott Blair said in a written statement.
He said the employee is now in self-quarantine and the restaurant has been disinfected.
He added that restaurant officials have notified all team members who were potentially exposed, and the restaurant is currently open and being operated by staff who have tested negative for the virus or who were not potentially exposed.

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — One of the oldest and largest medical weight loss programs in the state was closed Wednesday.
That's according to a sign that was posted on the door of the Johnstown office of Dr. Bob's Medical Weight Loss Clinic.

RICHLAND TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WJAC) — A school in Cambria County is raising money to build a special needs playground for the community to use.
Officials at Pressley Ridge Day School Johnstown say there's no other playground to meet the needs of many kids in the area and they want to change that.
It’s going to be custom built on the grounds of the Greater Johnstown Career and Technology Center.
Because of its special features, it could cost $200,000.
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. (WJAC) — With the intention of being more inclusive, Penn State University is looking to drop "male-specific" words like “freshman,” “sophomore” and “upperclassmen.”
Officials say the Penn State Faculty Senate approved proposition AD84 during their final meeting of the 2020-21 academic year.
They said the approved legislation would implement the use of gender neutral and non-binary terminology in course and program descriptions.
The recommendation that was passed stated that many universities have grown out of a typically male-centered world and many terms carry a male-centric binary character to them.
CENTRE COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — Work is underway to renew a unique financing agreement Penn State has with a number of Centre County municipalities and other entities.
More than twenty years ago, when Centre County government and other municipalities were in court with Penn State over the university's tax status, the issue was resolved with the university agreeing to pay various county, and Centre Region entities, a total of well over a million dollars a year as an impact fee.
ALTOONA -- Many Altoona residents are without power Sunday night due to a widespread power outage.
Blair County Non-emergency says callers began reporting problems around 6:30 p.m.
According to an Altoona Firefighters Facebook page, there was an underground explosion inside a vault on 15th Street, causing the outages. Penelec is on scene trying to restore power.
There is no estimated restoration time.
Altoona Police are asking people to avoid downtown if possible while the problem is resolved.
WASHINGTON (TND) — There is talk about whether President Joe Biden's name will appear on the Ohio ballot this November. Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose addressed the issue on social media, noting the state's house speaker said "there won't be a legislative solution" to an obscure provision of an Ohio law that requires presidential candidates be certified ahead of the general election. LaRose said the law requires the political party selecting its presidential and vice presidential candidates must certify the names of the candidates with the secretary of state 90 days before the general election to ensure they will be on the ballot.

Brookville, PA — Around 3:00 Tuesday morning, firefighters were called to West Taylor Street in Brookville for a fire at the Brookville Hometown Market.

CLEARFIELD COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — Clearfield County coroner Kim Shaffer-Snyder has identified the passenger of a Pontiac Grand Prix who was killed early Friday morning when a car collided with a deer in Union Township.
Investigators say the crash occurred around 1:30 a.m. Friday as the driver of the Pontiac, a 28-year-old Luthersburg man, was traveling eastbound on Rockton Mountain Highway. Police say a deer reportedly entered the roadway and was struck by the car.
State College, PA (WJAC) — The Centre County coroner's office has officially made a ruling in the death of 19-year-old Justine Gross, the Penn State student who was reported missing in November and was later found dead after falling down an 11-story trash chute.
Investigators say Gross suffered "multiple, acute blunt force trauma" as a result of the fall and her death has officially been deemed an accident.
Authorities say the toxicology report showed that Gross had both marijuana and alcohol in her system at the time of her death.

Earlier this week, 6 News spoke with Officer Sean Kisel with the Richland Township Police Department who says according to state law - fireworks can be set off until 1 a.m. this weekend.

Johnstown, PA (WJAC) — Police in Jackson Township have charged a Cambria County man accused of raping a teenage girl in 2004, according to a criminal complaint.
Authorities say David Dernar, now age 52, faces charges of forcible rape, involuntary deviant sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault and sexual assault, according to online court documents.
Police say in April of 2004, Dernar, who was 34 at the time, allegedly assaulted a 16-year-old girl at a home along Trout Street in Jackson Township.
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. (WJAC) — Right-Wing political commentator Milo Yiannopoulos was invited to Penn State’s University Park Campus by student organization Uncensored America.
The announcement sparked outcry and prompted comments from the institution.
According to the event's webpage, Yiannopoulos "will talk about free speech, faith, conversion therapy, hairstyle, and more."
The event's tagline is "Pray the Gay Away."
The University says it does not condone what Yiannopoulos has to say, but that he has the unquestioned right to say it.
BELLEFONTE, Pa. (WJAC) — A dentist from Bellefonte who was acquitted of rape and kidnapping charges in July was named in a civil lawsuit by his alleged victim, according to Centre County court officials.
Wade Newman, former owner of Bellefonte Family Dentistry, was charged in March 2017 when the woman said Newman drove her home after a procedure then forced himself on her.
The attack is alleged to have happened in October 2016, according to the Center County District Attorney's Office.
Pennsylvania State Police are investigating after a man fired a gun into another vehicle on I-476 Friday afternoon, a press release states.
According to state police, just after 12:30 p.m., they received a report of a shooting that occurred on the interstate in Radnor Township, Delaware County.
The press release states that troopers arrived on scene to find a blue Honda Civic that had crashed into another vehicle disabled on a hill on the right shoulder, with the operator, only identified at this time as a 62-year-old male, being treated for injuries.
CLEARFIELD CO., Pa. (WJAC) — A Clearfield County cemetery honored United States veterans today by planting the stars and stripes in front of veterans' graves.
About 50 volunteers came out to Styers Cemetery to plant around 1,200 U.S. flags.

CENTRE COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — In our latest segment of Road Trippin’, the Eagle Ironworks at Curtin Village stands on the site of an Iron Furnace that was created by Roland Curtin and an associate in 1810.
The Eagle Ironworks was one of 20 iron furnaces operating in Centre County during the peak of iron making.
The mansion was also home to Roland Curtain’s son, Andrew Curtin, who was the governor of Pennsylvania, during the American Civil War.
BALTIMORE (WBFF) — Hundreds, if not a thousand people took to the streets in Baltimore over Memorial Day weekend.
It happened late Saturday night into Sunday in the city's Fells Point neighborhood, after bars and restaurants closed.
WBFF's cameras were rolling when a large fight broke out between a group of females near the square.
The cameras also captured multiple people consuming alcohol from open containers in the middle of the street, in plain sight of police.
Altoona Area High School held a grand re-opening Wednesday morning of an upcycling shop, named after a student killed in the Columbine High School shooting.
The project is called Rachel’s Closet, named after Rachel Scott, who was the first student killed in the shooting.
Madison Aboud with Rachel’s Closet says the project was inspired by Rachel’s wish to spread kindness and positivity.
Students can come to the shop for items such as clothing, school supplies and personal hygiene items free of charge.

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — Veterans in Johnstown can now get free rides to medical centers four days a week.
Rides will be available to the Johnstown outpatient clinic and the Altoona Veterans Affairs medical center Monday through Thursday.
Rides must be requested at least three days in advance, and medical appointments should be scheduled between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Veterans must also be able to get in and out of vehicles unassisted to be eligible for rides through this service.
UPDATE | BLAIR COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — Authorities have released new details about what led to the arrest of an Altoona woman for her role in a fatal fire last February.
On Tuesday, police filed a multitude of charges against 43-year-old Heather Evans, including multiple counts of murder and aggravated arson, for setting fire to an East 5th Ave. home on Feb. 15th, 2022.
Investigators say the fire claimed the life of 75-year-old Mark Stewart, and also resulted in multiple firefighters being injured while battling the blaze.
Indiana County, PA (WJAC) — Authorities in Indiana County are searching for a Saltsburg area man who was reported missing on Wednesday.
Police say 45-year-old Bryan John Bialas, of Conemaugh Township, Indiana County, reportedly failed to show up for work and was reported missing by his family and co-workers.
Troopers say Bialas is described as a white male, approximately 6 feet, 1 inches tall, with a thin build, brown eyes and long brown hair.

DUBOIS, Pa. - A lightning strike in DuBois hit a utility pole, causing electrical circuits to blow out at the Arby's.
The strike happened just before 2:30 p.m. at the Arby's at the Pilot Travel Center.
Officials said the strike fried lights and created smoke inside the building.

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Former casino executive Scott Sibella was sentenced to probation and a fine for violating federal anti-money laundering laws when he allowed an illegal bookmaker to gamble at his casino.
Wednesday's sentencing came after Sibella reached a plea agreement with federal prosecutors back in January on a count of failure to file reports of suspicious transactions required to be made by casinos.

Much of the younger population maybe at risk of hearing loss.
That’s according to the results of a study done within the University of Michigan -- by the C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital National Poll on children’s health.
The study adds that the main factor of this hearing loss issue within younger populations comes from earbuds -- like the popular air pods and other headphones.
The study also shows that 64 percent of parents reported their child uses some type of earbud or headphone and 74 percent believe it is fine — as the volume is not too high.
LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WJAC) — Three Clearfield men are facing assault-related charges after injuring and choking a 63-year-old man at a Uni-mart Saturday, police said.
According to Lawrence Township Police, 37-year-old George Irwin, 44-year-old Jason Peters and 46-year-old Jeffrey Peters assaulted the man at the Hyde Uni-Mart after an unprovoked altercation involving a previous civil manner.
Police say the three men fled after assaulting the man, but charges have since been filed.

SHANKSVILLE, Pa. -- Flight 93 National Memorial Park Superintendent Stephen Clark said the remaining wreckage from the ill-fated flight will return to the museum later this year.
Clarik said this is following the longstanding effort by the Families of Flight 93 to return the wreckage to the site.
Clark said the remaining wreckage of the jetliner that was hijacked by terrorists and crashed on the Sept. 11, 2001, has been stored at a secured unit since the FBI investigation concluded in 2001.

A “crazy freak accident” happening in a mine in early January hospitalized Tim Page with several serious injuries.
According to his sister Alishia Wilders, Page was loading a mine car on January 5th and ran out of room in the back, so he decided to place a box weighing about 70 pounds in the front of the car.
Wilders said Page told her that he was over two miles into the mine, and he felt the ground shift, causing the roof of the mine to drop from 70 inches to 40 inches.

Centre Co., PA (WJAC) — Authorities in Centre County say a Bellefonte woman was sentenced to nearly two years in county jail Monday after being accused of providing drugs to children and bathing them in bleach.
Officials say Tara Auman was sentenced to serve 11-and-a-half to 23-and-a-half months in jail, followed by five years of probation in the child endangerment case.
Centre County authorities clarified that the sentence was also concurrent with the consolidation of various other cases against her.

That's due in part to these two engines replacing what were previously three pieces of apparatus. As fire departments nationwide face a volunteer shortage, Howard fire officials say this improvement makes a difference.
Warren County, PA — The Pennsylvania couple and their dog who came face-to-face with escapee Michael Burham were given a reward on Tuesday.
Thanks to the tip from Ron and Cindy Ecklund, Burham was taken into custody, and they were presented with $2,000 in cash from the Warren County Crime Stoppers.

Johnstown, PA (WJAC) — Authorities have confirmed to 6 News that charges in one of the two cases against former Westmont Hilltop music teacher Shawn Miller have been dismissed.
During a hearing last week, President Judge Norman Krumenacker III ordered that the charges be withdrawn after prosecutors filed a motion to have them dismissed without prejudice.

2nd UPDATE|Cambria Co., PA (WJAC) — Authorities in Cambria County are providing new details on Thursday's fatal crash that shut down Route 22 westbound, near Ebensburg, for several hours.
Cambria County coroner Jeff Lees identified the victim as 77-year-old Richard Dow, of Ebensburg.
Investigators say Dow suffered massive blunt force trauma to his head and chest when his SUV was struck by a tri-axle truck near the Unimart intersection.
Authorities also noted that the victim's family dog, a Maltese Poodle, was inside the vehicle at the time of the crash and suffered injuries that resulted in it having to be euthanized.

Blair Co., PA (WJAC) — The 26th annual Holiday Lights on the Lake event at Lakemont Park is scheduled to kick off Friday, Nov. 18th.

NTSB has been investigating the natural gas-fueled explosion at R.M. Palmer Co. Factory that ended 7 people's lives last March in West Reading, PA.
According to NTSB's latest findings, natural gas was linking from a DuPont Aldyl A service tee that was installed in 1982.
UGI exposed and retired the service line that was connected to this tee in 2021 when they relocated the natural gas meter from the basement to the outside of Building 2, where the explosion would later occur.
HUNTINGDON, Pa. - An inmate is back in custody after he walked off of work detail Friday, police said.
According to police, the inmate was on work detail on state Route 26 near the Walmart when he walked off around 12:30 p.m. Department of Corrections identified the inmate as 26-year-old John Adam Bertolette.
Police said Bertolette stole a vehicle from a nearby housing development and tried to escape.
Troopers began a search and spotted, then stopped the vehicle just south of Marklesburg Borough.

ELDRED TOWNSHIP, Penn. (WJAC) - A Brookville woman is facing child pornography and sexual assault charges in an investigation that started in Texas.
Christine Nichols, 29, has been charged with multiple felonies, including rape of a child, statutory sexual assault, deviate sexual intercourse involving a child and several child pornography charges.
According to police, they responded to the Brookville home after the Internet Child Crimes Against Children Task Force alerted Pennsylvania authorities about an arrest in Texas for child pornography and that the origin of the video came from a Jefferson County home.

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — The Cambria County library is holding a book sale this week.
Books will be available for purchase Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the first-floor community room.
The book sale allows the library to make room for new additions and keep its collection up to date.

Clearfield Co., PA (WJAC) — 911 officials in Clearfield County say a multi-vehicle crash has closed a stretch of Route 322 in West Decatur.
According to the 511PA alert page, the highway is closed between Bigler Cutoff Road and its junction with Route 53.
Officials say the crash was reported just after 3 p.m. Sunday.
Authorities say the extent of any injuries is unknown at this time and it is unclear how long the highway will be closed.
Johnstown residents are facing a new challenge this summer: finding rattlesnakes in their yards.
The Johnstown Police Department received a call Wednesday about a three foot yellow rattlesnake sunning itself in a yard on the 300 block of Glenn Street.

Investigators say Dmitriy Litvinov and several others staged nearly 40 robberies and burglaries, most of them at gunpoint, some with gang members carrying military assault rifles.

MILFORD MILL, Md. (WBFF) — Authorities released footage that shows a deadly police pursuit that ended in a fiery wrong-way crash on a Maryland highway. Baltimore County Police Department released the body-worn camera footage on Thursday from a fatal police pursuit last month that killed a bystander. Dimeka Thornton, 37, of Windsor Mill, Maryland died from after the crash on the Beltway, police said.
The release of body-worn camera footage in this incident was delayed to allow the family and subject officers to view the video before it was released to the public.

CENTRE COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — A man accused of raping a woman in 2017 has been found guilty on all counts. The verdict was reached in a Centre County trial for Nnaemeka Ani, of Nigeria.
He was found guilty of raping a woman in 2017 along with other assault related charges.
Police say DNA evidence linked Ani to the crime scene.
He is still awaiting trial on other criminal charges after also being accused of breaking into several State College area apartments.
