Police in Jackson Township have charged a Cambria County man accused of raping a teenage girl in 2004, according to a criminal complaint.

Authorities say David Dernar, now age 52, faces charges of forcible rape, involuntary deviant sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault and sexual assault, according to online court documents.

Police say in April of 2004, Dernar, who was 34 at the time, allegedly assaulted a 16-year-old girl at a home along Trout Street in Jackson Township.

Investigators say the victim was known to Dernar and was staying at his home when she was sexually assaulted in her sleep.

Authorities note in the complaint that the victim was awakened during the alleged assault.

Dernar was arraigned on the charges earlier this week, court dockets show, and he is being housed at the Cambria County Prison, on $60,000 bail.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 14.
