UNIVERSITY PARK – A rematch of last year’s PIAA Class AA baseball championship did not yield a different result for the Bishop McCort Crushers, as they dropped a 7-4 decision to Neumann-Goretti Friday at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.
Neumann-Goretti beat Bishop McCort 3-0 in the title game last year. The Saints finish the year with a 23-4 record on the way to back-to-back titles.
The Crushers, who finish the season with a 19-8 record, fell behind 5-0 in the first inning and were never able to recover.
McCort cut into the Saints’ lead with a run in the third and two runs in the fourth to make it 5-3, but two runs by Neumann-Goretti in the fifth put the game out of reach.
